Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced
Emergency Medical Technician- Advanced: provide the same services as EMTs. However, in addition, they can administer fluids and some medications. They are also trained to use the advanced medical equipment carried in the ambulance. The Board of Health - through regulations - sets guidelines and minimum standards to establish a minimum level of training for the advanced level EMS Provider. These are required to be met by all Paramedic Programs in the state.
This EMT program is one semester in length, typically meets two nights a week, and is available during the fall and spring semesters at DeSoto, Oxford or Senatobia campuses.
Note: You must complete the EMT program to be admitted into the EMT-Advanced and Paramedic program.
