Utility Line Worker

Program acceptance is issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Once allotted program slots are filled, applicants will be considered for the alternate list. In order to be added to the alternate list, applicants must complete all steps and submit the required documents listed below. 

• Complete an Application for Admissions to the college.
• Complete an Application to the Utility Line Worker program.
• Have a high school diploma or GED/HISET equivalency on file with the admissions office and confirm that admissions received it. 
• Submit all required documents listed below.*All documents must be submitted prior to program acceptance.*
  • Submit Memorandum of Understanding (Click here for form)
  • Submit a copy of valid Driver’s License
  • Submit a copy of MVR. (Click here for website)
  • Submit a DOT Physical – Can be completed at any physician’s office
• Upon acceptance into the program, a DOT Drug Screen from an approved FMCSA provider (Due no earlier than 30 days prior to the first day of class – special instructions will be included in acceptance letter). Failure to submit a negative DOT drug screen or submission of a positive DOT drug screen will result in a forfeit of seat in the program. (Drug Screen Policy & Test Result Form)
• Submit a copy of a valid Class A CDL Permit with an issue date of no earlier than July 1st. (Due no earlier than 30 days prior to the first day of class)

Admissions to the college does not guarantee admissions to the program of study.

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Utility Line Worker Apprenticeship program is designed to collaborate with a Registered Apprenticeship program to provide students an opportunity to obtain a degree while also completing a DOL registered apprenticeship program.  

How do I get into the Utility Line Worker Apprenticeship Program? 

• Complete an Application for Admissions to the college. 

• Complete an Application to the Utility Line Worker- Apprenticeship program. 

• Submit proof of employment with proof of enrollment in an Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi (ECM) Registered Apprenticeship Program 

• Request transcripts be sent to the office of admissions showing your completion of a Utility Line Worker program, if not completed at NWCC. 

• Contact a Career Counselor for the next available enrollment term.
