Health Care Assistant
The health care assistant program seeks to provide students with the opportunity to learn basic health care needs, obtain state certification and excel in the community as a health care team member. The NWCC faculty support the healthcare core values and desire for each student to succeed in obtaining their healthcare professional goals.
The Health Care Assistant Program is one semester (approximately 4 months) in which graduates are awarded a certificate of completion. Upon receiving the Health Care Assistant certificate, graduates are qualified to sit for the Mississippi State Certification for Health Care Assistant. Certified Health Care Assistants are qualified for employment in the Mississippi Health Care Industry in a variety of settings. These include opportunities as Health Care Assistant, Long-term Care Assistant, Home Health Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant and Personal Caregiver.
