Physical Therapy

Those who want to become physical education teachers are required to possess at least a bachelor's degree and a state-issued license to teach physical education. Licensure can be attained through the completion of a teacher education program focused on health and fitness, as well as a student teaching component. Many colleges and universities offer joint or blended degree programs that allow aspiring teachers to earn their bachelor's degree and teaching certification simultaneously. However, prospective teachers can enroll in a teacher education program after they have completed a bachelor's degree as well.

Our Pre-Physical Therapy degree plans integrate essential general education requirements with necessary coursework to transfer. You will delve into topics such as:

• Human Anatomy & Physiology: In-depth study of the body's structure and function.
• Medical Terminology & Ethics: Essential language and professional standards in healthcare.
• Basic Sciences: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology fundamentals.

A.A. (Pre-Physical Therapy) Specific Courses (Year 2, focused on transfer):

• Physics I & II (with labs)
• Organic Chemistry (if required by target DPT programs)
• Additional Biology courses (e.g., Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology II)
• Sociology or other Social Science Electives
• Humanities/Fine Arts Electives

Graduates of our A.A. Pre-Physical Therapy program are prepared to transfer to universities offering Bachelor's degrees in:

• Exercise Science
• Kinesiology
• Biology
• Health Sciences
• And other fields that serve as prerequisites for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs.

• With a Bachelor's Degree (after transferring from A.S. Pre-PT) and further Doctorate of Physical Therapy education:
  • Physical Therapist (PT): Diagnose and treat individuals of all ages who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
