Vocal Music

The vocal/choral music program at Northwest Mississippi Community College is renowned for its excellence, featuring award-winning choirs that have performed regionally and nationally. Voice students regularly perform and compete and have consistently placed as finalists at NATS. At Northwest, your vocal talents will be developed into excellent musicianship that inspires and connects with audiences.

At Northwest, students have access to a variety of choral ensembles, both auditioned and non-auditioned. Auditioned ensembles include Northwest’s premiere mixed ensemble, Ranger Chorale, as well as a 16-voice chamber ensemble, Ranger Consort, both of which perform a variety of repertoire from the past thousand years. Students of any experience level are encouraged to join Northwest Singers, no audition required! For contemporary pop a cappella performances, students can audition for Northwest Entertainers, which has been thrilling audiences with engaging performances for over fifty years.

Located in the brand new Heindl Center for the Performing Arts, the program boasts facilities that include three large rehearsal halls, several spaces for small ensembles, fourteen individual practice rooms, and a state-of-the-art recording studio. The crown jewel of our facilities is the 1200 seat auditorium where you will perform concerts for friends and family as a member of our program. These resources highlight the college’s commitment to arts education and its mission to empower students through world-class opportunities in the performing arts.
