Biography

Tim Garrett has been the Director of Bands at Northwest Mississippi Community College since 2022, where he directs the Ranger Marching Band, the Northwest Wind Ensemble, and teaches high brass lessons. Under his leadership, the band has grown to 220 members, the largest in school history.

Mr. Garrett holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Mississippi (2000) and a Master of Music Education from William Carey University (2022). Currently in his 24th year of teaching, he began his career as an Assistant Band Director for Stone County Schools, where the band performed at the Midwest International Clinic in 2001. From 2010 to 2021, he served as Director of Bands at West Harrison High School in Gulfport, MS, where the program expanded from 80 to 245 members. Under his leadership, the West Harrison Band performed at the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2020 Tournament of Roses Parade and was featured on NBC national radio and television.

Mr. Garrett is an active member of the Mississippi Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, College Band Directors National Association, NAfME, and the American School Band Directors Association.
