Biography

Lawayne House is an Art Instructor at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he has been a full-time faculty member since 2004. A Memphis native, he holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising Design from the Memphis Academy of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the Memphis College of Art.

Before transitioning to academia, Mr. House spent 25 years in product development, illustration, and advertising, working as a designer for Hallmark Cards and contributing to greeting card designs, gift wraps, and advertising campaigns. His artwork has been exhibited at the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Meridian Museum of Art, the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, and various national exhibitions. He has collaborated with renowned illustrator Mark English and Art Leonardi, creator of the Pink Panther for Hanna-Barbera Studios.

Since joining NWCC, Mr. House has been a dedicated educator, bringing his creativity into the classroom. In Spring 2024, he began teaching at the Northwest DeSoto Campus, continuing to inspire students through his multifaceted artistic expertise.
