Biography

Jennifer Whitehead has been a music instructor at Northwest Mississippi Community College since 2015, teaching applied woodwind lessons, music theory, and coaching chamber ensembles. She is active as a freelance flutist in the Memphis area and serves as piccolo/third flute with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra in Tennessee.

Ms. Whitehead holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Memphis. She is certified in Suzuki Flute and Orff and maintains a large private flute studio with students across the Mid-South and the U.S.

As a guest artist and clinician, Ms. Whitehead has performed at Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi, Delta State University’s Flute Day, and at Carnegie Hall with the National Wind Ensemble. She has collaborated with renowned flutists such as William Bennett and Emmanuel Pahud and served on the board of the Mid-South Flute Society. An advocate for music education, she has judged national and regional competitions and presented on online flute instruction at a national flute forum.

With over 26 years of teaching experience, Ms. Whitehead is passionate about mentoring young musicians, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in music.
