eMail/Campus Computers/myNWCC/Canvas

• Username and password
  • The username for myNWCC, Canvas, Campus Computers, and Library Databases is your NWCC student ID#  |  Example: 123456
  • The username for Email and the Student Financial Planning portal is your ID#@northwestms.edu  |  Example: 123456@northwestms.edu
  • Passwords are set in myNWCC upon the first login and do not expire. This password will be used for ALL Northwest accounts.
     
• New Students 
  Default email password is your birthdate (mmddyy).
  You must click here for myNWCC to set your password
  Allow 15 minutes for password changes to take effect for all other platforms.
   
• Previous Students
  Your password is unchanged from your last attendance.
  If you have EVER attended Northwest, you are a previous student.
   
• Email Account
  Each student has an email account.  Your email address is your ID#@northwestms.edu
  Example: 123456@northwestms.edu
  The password is the same as you have previously set in myNWCC.

If you need to recover any login information, click the email address at the top of the page and fill out the required information with a short description of the issue you are having.

• Please note that Email accounts are deleted after one year of inactivity. To access your email account, click here. Your pin/password is the same as for myNWCC.

  Note: Each phone manufacturer is set up a little different.  Therefore, these instructions are written to give the basic information to set up your email.

• Ranger Alerts

  Northwest will use the RANGER ALERT system to send notifications related to inclement weather, school closings, campus information, and emergencies on campus. Ranger Alert messages automatically pull from cell phone fields from myNWCC.

  If you are not receiving alerts, please login to myNWCC, choose "Student Information", "Modify My Information", and enter your cell phone number and cell phone provider information!

  In the event that you do not wish to receive any of the alerts simply text STOP after receiving a RANGER ALERT via text message.

Northwest's computing platform is primarily Windows 10 and Office 2021; with the exception of Graphic Design and a few Art courses that utilize Macs. In order to ensure students have the compatibility needed to complete their course work, it is recommended that students purchase a Windows based device with at least an 10th generation i-5 processor, 8GB RAM, 256 GB hard drive, web camera, and virus/ malware protection software. This requirement is especially important for anyone taking online classes, Computer Concepts, other computer classes, and programming courses.

HP Stream and Chromebooks are not recommended as they have small hard drives and are not compatible with our environment.

Note: It is not necessary to purchase Office. Once a student has completed registration and paid for their classes it can be downloaded for free from inside their email account.
