Absence Appeal Request

This process outlines the steps for students who have been administratively removed from a course due to exceeding the allowed absences and who wish to appeal this removal. Please note: This process is specifically for appealing removal from a course due to excessive absences. For individual absences, students should consult directly with their course instructor.

Timeline: Students have five (5) days from the notification of removal from the course to submit a formal appeal. Appeals submitted after this deadline will not be considered.

Grounds for Appeal: To be considered for an appeal, students must provide reasonable and verifiable justification for the excessive absences. Acceptable documentation must be included with the appeal and may include (but is not limited to):

  • Doctor's Notes: Official documentation from a medical professional indicating the dates of illness and inability to attend class.
  • Court Documents: Official documentation from a court of law (e.g., jury duty summons, subpoena).
  • Clear Explanation of Absences as a Collection: A detailed written explanation outlining the reasons for the pattern of absences, connecting the provided documentation to the overall absence record. This should demonstrate extenuating circumstances that significantly impacted the student's ability to attend class.
