Northwest has given me an exceptional opportunity for growth. I came from a smaller high school and having the opportunities that are provided to students at Northwest has changed my education in a significant way. Northwest Mississippi Community College's football alumnus and Holly Springs native Terry Lawrence named a Hall of Famer at Northwest's Homecoming Celebration in October.

Northwest Mississippi Community College's Foundation announced the headliner for the Northwest Soiree: A Garden Gala as pop singer Dave Barnes, who will perform after the awards ceremony at the fourth annual fundraising event on April 11, 2026, at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts in Senatobia. Returning this year as Presenting Sponsor is Mini Systems, Inc.

Northwest Mississippi Community College's R.C. Pugh Library opened its doors again after a renovation project that revitalized the college's library into a large learning hub equipped with a state-of-the-art maker space, a cozy fireplace, study rooms, and more. College administration, the Board of Trustees, Northwest staff and faculty, alongside students joined together to hold the ribbon cutting on Nov. 20.

Northwest Mississippi Community College was named on the Military Times 2025 Best for Vets college rankings on Nov. 17, 2025. This year's rankings include 357 institutions, making the largest field in the program's history.

Northwest Mississippi Community College has accepted a $1 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, which the college is matching with $250,000 in funding for additional equipment and instructor salary. The ARC's purpose is to help build up communities across the Appalachian region, including but not limited to those in Mississippi. Northwest was notified of the approval of the grant on Sept. 17.
