Northwest student KC Johns will host a video release party for her original song, “Fireflies at Night,” on Tues., Oct. 27 at Windy City Grille in Hernando from 7-9 p.m.
The 20-year old country music singer and songwriter from Hernando released her self-written, debut album “Tell Me You Love Me” in 2009, and has lately been performing throughout the nation in response to her album’s success.
Johns has been a barrel racer all her life, but recently stopped two years ago to pursue her dream in music.
Her musical career began locally when she won first place in the “Stars on the Square Contest” in Hernando and second place in the talent show at the Tate County Fair.
She attends Northwest as an online student and is a Medical Office Technology major.
Johns travels and performs throughout the Mid South. In Nashville, she has performed at Tootsies, 12th and Porter, Nashville Palace and the Limelight. She has also performed at several PBR (Professional Bull Riders, Inc.) rodeos and several music festivals across the Southeast region.
When Johns isn’t performing, she is writing new songs, and preparing for her new album that will release in 2010.
“Most of the inspiration for the songs I write comes from experiences in my life,” she said. “Love, relationships, and breakups are my favorite things to write about because I find it easy to write songs about the feelings that come along with those things.”
Her debut album “Tell Me You Love Me” was recorded in Nashville. It is available on iTunes and in select Best Buy stores. The video to her song, “Fireflies at Night,” which was directed b Ryan Helding of Chicago, will be shown for the first time on Oct. 27.
