A carnival, a dance, open-mic karaoke, free food, professional entertainment, and all kinds of other activities topped with a must-win Homecoming football game right in the middle of autumn. What more could a college student ask for?
We are right in the middle of Homecoming week, and the weather couldn’t be more appropriate. The fall season has officially arrived, and all around we can see the leaves changing color and the temperature dropping.
The regular football season is nearing a close and this Saturday’s Homecoming game is a big one, to say the least, because in order to have a chance for post-season play the Rangers must defeat the Northeast Tigers.
“I think it pumps the team up when there is a lot of student support in the stands,” said freshman band member Lauren Smith of Olive Branch.
“The noise from the band and the audience gets people excited.”
Smith, who is on the color guard, said that performing in front of fellow students gives her an extra adrenaline rush. One can only imagine how it feels for a football player when the stands are full of people they know.
Homecoming activities have been going on all week long and hopefully students will take advantage of what is left to enjoy.
Tonight at 7 p.m. Hypnotist Erick Kand will perform free for students in the cafeteria. The annual “Sidewalk Chalk” art contest will be held tomorrow morning. Saturday is game day, and any student that is able should come to show support for our football team and Homecoming Court. We look forward to seeing alumni and friends come back home for a visit as well.
Students often complain that there is not enough going on around campus. That is not the case this week.
Enjoy the rest of the yearly homecoming tradition and be at the game this Saturday to root for the Rangers and support your choice for Homecoming Queen.
See you there!
