Ping Pong, Billiards tourneys offered through intramurals
By: Kristina Dunigan
Cameron Blount, Northwest Intramural Sports and Recreation manager, is asking all students to “step outside their box.”
Blount, who has served in his job for seven years, manages 20 different intramural activities each year that range from flag football to ultimate Frisbee.
On Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. Intramurals hosted a Ping Pong tournament, and on Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. a Billiards tournament will be held. Blount wants as many people as possible to sign-up “whether you have never picked up a stick or paddle.”
These games are a good way to get out, have fun, and socialize, as well as any other intramural sport.
“This is the fun stuff of Northwest,” says Blount. “If you’re just needing to get out, let off some steam, or trying to just meet new people, then intramurals are suitable for you.”
Blount is always conducting different sports for students to try out. He says Intramurals are important when it comes to exercising your body “You’re taking care of your body by burning off calories and frustration.”
If you are interested in participating in the Billiards tournament or other intramurals, or have any new ideas for intramural sports, stop by Blount’s office in the McLendon Student Union. The last day for sign-ups for Billiards is Dec. 4 at 12 p.m.
“If all 8,000 students came through my door, that would be great, I would love that,” Blount states.
For winning these events students will receive Championship T-Shirts.
