“When Crickets Cry” by Charles Martin will be the focus of the January meeting of Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Reading Roundtable. The session will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. in the R.C. Pugh Library on the Senatobia campus.
The novel is set in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year old at her lemonade stand meets a stranger who is not what he appears to be. And a bread truck careening around the corner is about to change the course of both of their lives.
The discussion will be led by Margaret Rogers, director of Learning Resources.
The purpose of the program is to provide a forum for senior adults to read and discuss a variety of books during the course of every semester. Discussions are led by Northwest faculty, and meetings are held on the third or fourth Tuesday of each month.
Sycamore Bank has donated the funds for the program.
The February Reading Roundtable will be held Feb. 24 and will feature the book, “Little Heathens - Hard Times and high spirits” by Mildred Kalish.
