Northwest instructors’ work on display in Laurel
The work of two of Northwest Mississippi Community College art instructors are currently part of an exhibition at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art (LRMA) in Laurel. Instructors Eunika Rogers and Ashley Chavis both have pieces in the Mississippi Art Faculty: Juried Exhibition, which will run at the museum until March 29.

Northwest to feature Pulitzer-nominated cartoonist's work in upcoming exhibition
In December 2006, famed Mississippi cartoonist Marshall Ramsey celebrated his tenth anniversary at Mississippi’s largest newspaper, the “Clarion-Ledger.” In celebration of that milestone and in honor of Ramsey’s true artistry, Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Division of Fine Arts presents “10! A Decade of Cartoons by Marshall Ramsey.” The exhibition will be on display at the Northwest Art Gallery on the Senatobia campus beginning March 6 and running through March 31. Full story

Auditions set for Northwest production of “Tartuffe: Born Again”

Northwest Hall of Fame announced
Eleven new members have been inducted into Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Hall of Fame. They were introduced to the college's Board of Trustees at the regular meeting Feb. 12 on the Senatobia campus.
"This is the highest honor a student can receive," said Dr. Gary Lee Spears, president, in his introduction of the students to the college Board. "These are the best of the best."Full story
Cast and crew of “Cats” ready to get show started
The cast and crew of Northwest Mississippi Community College’s upcoming production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats” is ready to start the show after several months of hard work and rehearsing.
Performances will be Thursday - Friday, Feb. 26-27 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 1 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Auditorium. Full story
Northwest wins several theatrical awards
Northwest Mississippi Community College’s theatre department earned seven Allie awards at the annual Northwest Mississippi Theatre Alliance awards banquet on Feb. 7. The event was held at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven.
Northwest competes in the Community Theatre Division and took home top honors for “Hedda Gabler” (Best Drama) and “Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” (Best Comedy). Sophomore Alyssa McElfresh of Senatobia won a “Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical” for her portrayal of Miss Adelaide in last February’s production of “Guys and Dolls.” McElfresh also captured a “Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play” for “Musical Comedy Murders of 1940.” She played Helsa Wenzel. Reading Roundtable revisits Great Depression
“Little Heathens - Hard Times and High Spirits on an Iowa Farm During the Great Depression” by Mildred Kalish will be discussed at the February meeting of Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Reading Roundtable. Brasell serves as coordinator for MARS program
The Enterprise for Innovative Geospatial Solutions (EIGS) and the Geospatial Education Council of the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) are pleased to announce that on Jan. 15, the official launch of MARS, the second generation, was held on the Ridgeland campus of Holmes Community College. Non-credit Spanish classes offered in Batesville
Northwest Mississippi Community College's Workforce Development Center will offer two 20 hour non-credit conversational Spanish classes beginning in February at the Batesville Enterprise Center located in the Batesville Industrial Park. Both classes are designed for participants who have the need to use Spanish in the workplace. Full story
