Slots are still available in the new piano class being offered through Northwest Mississippi Community College's Division of Continuing Education. Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People is scheduled for Jan. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., in Room 110 of the Fine Arts Building on the Senatobia campus.

"If you yearn to experience the joy of piano playing, but you don't want years of weekly lessons, this short course if for you," said instructor David Haynes.

The class is designed to teach enough secrets of the trade in one night to make piano playing a part of the student's life. Students will learn the chords needed to play any pop song, in any style, in any key.

"This is an absolutely beginning class in chord piano techniques," said Haynes. "If you can find middle 'C' and know the meaning of 'Every Good Boy Does Fine,' you already know enough to enroll in this workshop," he said.

Topics will include how chords work in music, musicians' shortcuts, how to speed read sheet music, how to substitute 12,000 complex chords and more.

The fee for the class is $45 plus $25 for the book/CD. Early registration is recommended. For more information or to pre-register for the class, call Patricia Lowder, coordinator of Continuing Education, at (662) 562-3349.
