GIS workshop held
1/28/04
| Northwest Mississippi Community College Tech Prep Consortium teachers attend a GIS Workshop in the CAD Lab at Northwest Mississippi Community College Jan. 23. Geographic information systems, or GIS, have proven to be extremely useful technologies in the strategic management of business resources and operations, according to Tech Prep Coordinator Amanda Clanton. Accommodating extensive volumes of data from a variety of sources, the database allows the data to be displayed, retrieved, manipulated, and analyzed according to user specifications. |
 |
Results, produced in map form, may then be used in the study of resource allocation patterns, demography, site selection, and a wide spectrum of other analyses. This workshop was sponsored by the NWCC Tech Prep Consortium with Dennis Campbell of Urban Tech Environmental Mapping, Inc. as presenter. Participants include (l to r) Joyce Brasell, NWCC Workforce Development; Renee Smith and Donald Downs, South Panola High School; Irma Clark and Vertis Trimble, North Panola High School; and Campbell, Presenter. Seated is Patsy Edwards from Water Valley High School.
