Non-credit classes announced for October

Non-credit offerings at Northwest Mississippi Community College for the month of October range from a course in star gazing to a day trip to Oxford to a course in grant writing, according to Patricia Lowder, coordinator for Continuing Education.(full story)

| Northwest Mississippi Community College English instructor Dixon Bynum will be the guest speaker for the Sept. 28 session of Lunch and Learn, which is a part of the college's Lifelong Learning program. Bynum will discuss Shantyboaters, a lost Mississippi River culture of the 20th century. The meeting will be held at noon in the David M. Haraway Center on the Senatobia campus. The cost of the lunch is $5. To make a reservation, contact Sybil Canon at (662) 560-1103. Northwest Mississippi Community College alumnus Micah Moody of Tupelo was the winner of the 2005 John Deere Ag-Tech Bull-A-Rama held at the Northwest Multipurpose Arena Sept. 17. Moody rode two bulls for a combined score of 139 to claim the prize money. The championship bull riding is held yearly as a benefit for the college's intercollegiate rodeo team.
