DeSoto County freshman wins 2006 Northwest Beauty Review

Monica Medina, a freshman from Horn Lake, has won the 2006 Beauty Review at Northwest Mississippi Community College. The 18-year old general college major was named “Most Beautiful” out of 39 contestants in the annual pageant, which was held on Nov. 14.

Medina, a graduate of Horn Lake High School, is the daughter of Guillermo and Susan Reyes Medina. She is a student at DeSoto Center. She plans to attend Delta State University after Northwest.

Runners-up in the pageant were Aaron Craig of Blue Springs, first runner-up; Cheley Adams of Oxford, second runner up; Lauri Williams of Senatobia, third runner-up; and Jonelle Figaro of Batesville, fourth runner-up.

Other contestants placing in the top 12 were Megan Loftiss of Coldwater, Amanda Brooks of Scobey; Kelly Fitch of Oxford, Anna Gill of Olive Branch; Constance Collins of Pope; Mi’chel Jarjoura of Senatobia and Jessica Hicks of Horn Lake.

Escorts for the pageant were Sean Johnson of Senatobia and Phillip May of Coldwater. Dr, Ken Sipley, division director of Fine Arts at Northwest, served as the master of ceremonies. The Northwest Entertainers performed during the ceremony. The director of the pageant is Pam Wooten.

The Most Beautiful and four beauties will be showcased in the 2007 Rocketeer, the college yearbook.
