Northwest Public Relations Director Nancy Patterson of Senatobia received a first place award in the Tabloid category for the DeSoto Center Fall 2005 tabloid, which is a cooperative recruitment piece with Northwest and the University of Mississippi. Patterson served as project manager for the piece and worked with Northwest DeSoto Center Dean Richie Lawson and UM-DeSoto Dean Bonnie Buntin on publication contents.
Patterson also received a Judges' Choice Award in the Advertisements category for the college's 2006 Spring Semester advertising campaign, "Northwest... That's what I'm talking about!" Students featured in the advertising series were Lee Nelson of Coldwater, Mary McIntyre of Sardis, Brooke and Bonnie Sellers and Chad Blair, all of Independence, and Katy Sue Brown of Hernando. Ads ran in newspapers in the college’s 11-country district.
Assistant Director of Public Relations Julie Bauer of Southaven received a first place award in the Institutional Magazine category for the college's Alumni magazine, "Northwest Now." The magazine is a collaborative effort of the Public Relations Office and the Northwest Foundation. Bauer served as project manager and graphic designer on the piece. Director of Development Sybil Canon contributes to the publication which is edited by Patterson.
Bauer received a second place award in the Special Publications category for the 2005 All-Sports Program, Poster and Schedules. “The quality of the products produced by our office is top notch, thanks to the creativity and dedication of our staff,” said Patterson. “Our sports publications have a great look due to the design efforts of Julie Bauer and the writing skills of Brett Brown, assistant for Sports Information.”
In addition, Patterson was named as a member to the 2006-2007 CPRAM Board of Directors. Also representing the college at the two-day event was LaJuan Tallo of Senatobia, public relations assistant.
