New students planning to attend Northwest Mississippi Community College this fall can take advantage of the college's Project SOAR in selecting a convenient time and location for student orientation, advising and registration.

Students may choose a morning or afternoon session (8:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.) on any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday beginning June 13 through July 27, according to Matthew Domas, director of Campus Life.

"The whole registration process will be made easier by making so many dates available," said Domas. "In one short session, students will be able to register and will be ready for classes to begin in the fall," he said.

On the Senatobia campus, students will pre-register for the session they want to attend by calling (662) 562-3320. On the designated date, they will attend an orientation session followed by individual advising by college faculty and counselors and complete with registration for the Fall 2006 semester.

While on campus students will be able to visit the Financial Aid office, Housing office and the college bookstore. They will also be able to have I.D.s made.

Before registering, students under the age of 21 are required to have an ACT score. The Residual ACT will be administered on the Senatobia campus in the Tunica Building at 8 a.m. on June 28, July 12, 26, Aug. 2 and 9. Students must bring $30 and a photo I.D. in order to take the test.

At DeSoto Center, students must also pre-register for a session. They can do this by calling (662) 342-1570. Sessions at the Southaven campus will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The ACT will be given there in Room 244 beginning at 8 a.m.on June 28, July 12 and 26.

Students planning to attend Lafayette-Yalobusha Technical Center are not required to pre-register, but must attend on the designated dates between thr hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3;30 p.m.

It should be noted that no sessions at any locations will be held the week of July 3. For more information call the center nearest you or visit the college Web site at www.northwestms.edu.
