Adult students who are interested in returning to college are encouraged to apply for the Northwest Mississippi Community College Adult Student Scholarship, announced Deanna Ferguson, director of recruiting.

To qualify for the scholarship, students must be a Mississippi resident, 25 years of age or older, a full-time student entering in the fall (12 semester hours or more in day or evening classes). Applicants must complete the Northwest application and provide a high school transcript or GED score.

A 2005-2006 Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the Northwest Financial Aid Information Form must also be completed. Applicants must not owe money to the college.

Any Pell Grant eligibility will be used in place of the Adult Scholarship. Students who withdraw from school before six weeks or drop below full-time student status will forfeit the scholarship and will be responsible for paying the full tuition to the college.

Students may major in any one- or two-year academic or career-technical program of study. Applicants can attend any Northwest campus, including Senatobia, Southaven, Olive Branch, Ashland or Oxford.

The scholarship, which is for fall semester tuition ($650), is nonrenewable. Scholarship applicants are reviewed by a committee. If selected, students will receive an award letter; if not selected, students will receive written notification.

The Adult Student Scholarship deadline is July 1. For more information or to obtain a scholarship application, contact the Recruiting Office at (662) 562-3222.
