Northwest to hold two commencement ceremonies

Retiring Northwest Mississippi Community College President David M. Haraway will address graduates at two commencement ceremonies Friday, May 13 on the Senatobia campus. A record 589 students will participate.

Three hundred fifty candidates for Associate of Applied Science degrees and career certificates will participate in a 10 a.m. ceremony. That afternoon at 3 o'clock, 239 Associate of Arts degrees will be awarded.

Commencement ceremonies will be presided over by Northwest Registrar and President-elect Dr. Gary Lee Spears.

"Homeward Bound" will be performed by the Northwest Singers and Symhonic Band under the direction of Susanne VanDyke and John Ungurait, respectively. Soloist will be freshman Zach Hardy of Hernando. The Symphonic Band will also play the processional and recessional.

Dr. Haraway will award diplomas and certificates which will be presented by Joe Broadway, executive assistant to the president and District Dean of Career-Technical Education, at the 10 a.m. ceremony, and Academic Dean Marilyn Bateman and Dr. Spears at the 3 p.m. ceremony.
