Arthur "Bubba" Kuntzman Jr. to be inducted into Sports Hall of Fame

Former junior college football All-American Arthur "Bubba" Kuntzman Jr. of Memphis is one of four new inductees into Northwest Mississippi Community College's Sports Hall of Fame.
The annual induction banquet and ceremony is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Tickets are $25.

Kuntzman, 62, came to Northwest following a standout prep career at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, where he was named to the All-Memphis team and played in the All-State game.
Kuntzman played for the Rangers during the 1960-61 seasons. He was named All-State and Junior College All-American in 1961.
After Northwest, Kuntzman continued his playing career at Hardin-Simmons University in 1962-63. He earned a bachelor's degree at Hardin-Simmons in 1964 and a master's degree at The University of Memphis in 1975.
Kuntzman taught school and coached football in Texas for two years before returning to Memphis, where he has spent the past 38 years as a teacher and coach with Shelby County Schools. He is retiring this spring.
He and his wife, Linda, have five sons: Greg, Art III, Robert, Mark and Cliff.
Former inductees of the Northwest Sports Hall of Fame will be present to welcome Kuntzman and the other new inductees at the annual banquet.
Other new inductees are Northwest Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director Donny Castle of Senatobia; Eddy Halfacre of Hernando, a member of the rodeo team in 1977-79; and Eric Schwartz of Milford, Ohio, who played on Northwest¹s 1982 national championship football team.
Ole Miss football coach David Cutcliffe is the guest speaker for the event. The deadline for ticket reservations is May 20.
