DeSoto Center announces non-credit classes for summer

A variety of non-credit classes will be offered through continuing education divisions of Northwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi this summer at DeSoto Center.

Computer Basics for Seniors is a course designed to meet the needs of older adults who have no prior computer experience. This hands-on course will move at a slower pace than other classes and is ideal for those who have never used a computer. Cal Campbell will teach the class June 1 and 3, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The fee is $60.

Excel: Beginning will teach the basics of this program including creating spreadsheets, entering simple formulas and creating graphs. Jimmie Lou Sparks will be the instructor on June 8, 10 and 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. The fee is $60 (Prerequisite: Basic computer skills)

Windows: Beginning will introduce the beginner to fundamentals of computing, basic definitions and computer concepts. Paul Grisham will be the instructor. Class is set for June 8, 10 and 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $60.

Word: Beginning is a hands-on course designed to introduce students to the basic word processing features. Students will create documents, utilize proofing tools, format pages and edit documents. Grisham will teach this class June 8, 10 and 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The fee is $60. (Prerequisite: Basic computer skills)
