Daughtry wins culinary competition

Northwest Mississippi Community College DeSoto Center sophomore Dennis Daughtry of Olive Branch really cooked at the Delta Epsilon Chi International Conference April 14-18 at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Not only did Daughtry win first place in the culinary competition, he served as a spokesperson on the Business Project team.
Opryland's executive chefs judged 30 participants who worked on teams as well as individual culinary competitions and projects.
"Dennis will do well in his chosen profession as a chef," said advisor Kay Mistilis, hotel and restaurant management technology instructor.

"He is punctual and has never missed one of my classes in two years. He is dedicated to learning all there is to know about the culinary profession."
Daughtry, a hotel and restaurant management technology major, said his goal is to be an outstanding certified chef in the future. His motivation to achieve his goals is his 6-year-old son, Preston.
Daughtry has worked in the restaurant business for the past three years.
He currently works at and helped open Miss C's Sippy Tea Cottage in Horn Lake.
