Northwest Mississippi Community College's Workforce Development Center will offer six computer training classes in April, announced David Bledsoe, director of Workforce Development and Community Services.

Three sessions of Computer Fundamentals will be taught. Session I will be taught Tuesday mornings, April 6, 13 and 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. Session II is scheduled for Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. on the same dates. Session III is set for Wednesday evenings, April 7, 14 and 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This course develops the foundation skills of using a personal computer. Students will learn how to manage the Windows environment, create and organize files and folders and use Windows programs.

Two sessions of Microsoft Word Part I will be taught. Session I will be held Wednesday afternoons, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Session II is scheduled for Thursday mornings, April 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. Students will learn to create documents using basic editing and formatting procedures. Participants should be proficient with the Windows operating system before enrolling.

Microsoft Excel Part I will be taught Thursday afternoons, April 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. The first of a two-part course, the class will teach students to organize and analyze numeric data, write formulas, use formatting commands, and develop well-designed worksheets. Students should be proficient with the Windows operating system before enrolling in this class.

All sessions will be held at the Byhalia Learning Center located in the new Town Hall Building in Byhalia. There is a $25 enrollment fee per session.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) will be offered for participants who wish to take a course for that purpose. Students can earn 1.2 CEUs for completion of a class.
