Northwest Mississippi Community College honored the leaders and residents of Marshall County March 11 when it dedicated its newest residence hall Marshall Hall.
The $3.2 million residence hall represents the first building at Northwest named in honor of Marshall County.
"I'm going to say it's the nicest building on campus," said Bill Dawson of Byhalia, chairman of the Northwest Board of Trustees. "It was worth the wait."
Marshall County School Superintendent Don Randolph added: "This facility is quite a contrast to what I stayed in when I was (a Northwest student). It really shows the importance of what the college is achieving."
"It is an honor for our county officials and our taxpayers to name this facility in honor of Marshall County," said Randolph, who also serves on the Northwest Board of Trustees.

Northwest President David Haraway said the Board of Trustees named Marshall Hall as an expression of its gratitude for years of support to the college.
"The people of Marshall County have always been very generous in their support of Northwest," said Dr. David Haraway, Northwest president. ³This is one significant way for the Board of Trustees and our college to say thanks."
Marshall Hall opened for students in January and houses 160 students who pay a $650 housing fee per semester. There are 40 apartments in the complex, with two apartments designed for disabled students.
Four buildings house students in apartment-style accommodations equipped with a mini kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, one full bath, washer/dryer combination, cable television, telephone and Internet connections.
"I love Marshall Hall," said Northwest student Jessica Day of Potts Camp, who spoke at the dedication ceremony. "My mom really likes that I live in Marshall Hall because now I don't have to bring laundry home."
Marshall Hall also features a central office and lounge area, ample parking and is monitored by video surveillance and a fire alarm system.
Several elected officials from Marshall County attended the dedication ceremony, including County Administrator Larry Hall, Tax Assessor Betty Byrd, Chancery Clerk Chuck Thomas, Holly Springs Mayor Andre DeBerry, and Supervisors Keith Taylor and Ronnie Joe Bennett.
