With opening night right around the corner, cast members and Northwest Mississippi Community College theatre instructors are preparing for the Don Quixote-based musical "Man of La Mancha." The spring production will be performed April 1-3 at 7:30 p.m.; matinee performances are set for April 3-4 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus.
"It's going to fill the house and inspire," said director Jo Ellen Logan, Northwest speech and theatre instructor and director of the play. "People will be telling everyone about it."
Advance tickets for reserved seating are on sale at the Northwest Business Office. The cost is $2 for students and senior citizens and $5 for adults.
"Man of La Mancha," by Dale Wasserman, tells the tale of Cervantes y Saavedra and his arrest and imprisonment in a dungeon during the Spanish inquisition.
He finds himself caught in a mock trial with other prisoners and incorporates the story of Don Quixote as his defense.

"Man of La Mancha" will be the first large-scale production in the newly-renovated Fine Arts Auditorium. "It's an honor to do this big of a show in the newly-renovated space," Logan said. "I believe we have chosen the perfect play for that."
Speech and Theatre instructor Sam Weakley has similar feelings about the play, claiming that "Man of La Mancha" will captivate audiences with its "excellent music and world famous plot."
