The Northwest Mississippi Community College Singers will kick off three spring performances with a concert on Thursday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Northwest Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus. Admission to the concert is free.

According to Susanne Spencer VanDyke, the group’s director, the concert will include musical treasures such as “Alleluia” from Paul Basler’s “Songs of Faith,” a multi-movement work that explores and celebrates the American spirit, “Conversion of Saul” by Z. Randall
Stroope, which tells the story of Saul’s days as a persecutor of Christians to his conversion on the road to Damascus, and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” from Rogers and Hammerstein’s beloved musical, “The Sound of Music.”

“Rockin’ Jerusalem” arranged by Damon H. Dandridge, “God Bless the Child” by Arthur Herzog, Jr. and Billie Holiday, and the standard “Old Time Religion” arranged by Moses Hogan contribute to a night of music appropriate for springtime and the Easter season. "When you listen to our program, you will find music that leans heavily on the ‘toe-tapping’ side," VanDyke said.

The accompanist for the choir is Saundra Bishop. The Northwest Men’s Ensemble will also perform “Every Time I Feel the Spirit” arranged by Moses Hogan.

On Saturday, April 5 the Singers will appear at the Delta Music Festival in Tallulah, La. where Pete Fountain will be inducted in to the Hall of Fame. On April 6 the group will be bringing special music for the Sunday morning service at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Tallulah.
