Non-credit classes, a day trip, Lunch and Learn meetings and Reading Roundtable sessions have been set for the third season of Northwest Mississippi Community College's Lifelong Learning Program. This year's day trip will be a one-day adventure on Sept. 10 to the 5th annual Hummingbird Migration Celebration at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center near Holly Springs.

Lunch and Learn - a series designed to give community members the opportunity to interact with Northwest faculty members in a relaxed atmosphere - has scheduled four meetings.

They include: "Understanding Alzheimer's: Cause, Effect and Treatment" with science instructor Robin Robison, Aug. 25; "My Year in Iraq" with education faculty member Bert Foster, Sept. 15; "Ghosts: Here, There and Everywhere" with psychology instructor Kathy Foresman, Oct. 20; and "New York! New York!" with speech and theatre instructor Sam Weakley, Nov. 17. Participants should call (662) 560-1103 a week prior to each meeting.

Reading Roundtable is a forum for senior adults to read and discuss a variety of books. This year's theme is "Around the World and Home Again." Margaret Rogers, director of Learning Resources, will present "One Writer's Beginnings," by Eudora Welty Aug. 30. "The Moviegoer," by Walker Percy will be the topic for John Osier, English instructor, Sept. 27. "My Invented Country," by Isabel Allende will be the Oct. 25 program with Wayne Ferguson, chairman of the mathematics department. "The Secret Life of Bees," with Sue Monk Kidd is the topic for Nov. 29.

Funds for support of this program have been provided by Senatobia Bank and Cornerstone Bank. To register for a Reading Roundtable program, contact Patricia Lowder, coordinator for Continuing Education, at (662) 562-3349.

Senior adults may also register for credit courses. Participants must make application and register as scheduled during open registration Aug. 12 and 13.
