Northwest to host "Meet the Rangers" night Aug. 23
by LaJuan Tallo
8/3/2007
Northwest Mississippi Community College will hold its annual "Meet the Rangers" night on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. The event will be held on Bobby Franklin Field in Ranger Stadium at the Senatobia campus.
Pam Wooten, manager of Student Activities at Northwest, said that the event is free to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.
"This year, we will have a pep rally at the beginning, followed by a scrimmage," Wooten said. She stated that last year the college had a "mock" game, but that this year, they had decided to go back to the original format of the pep rally and scrimmage.
Wooten said that during the pep rally portion of the event, the Ranger Marching Band and Color Guard, the Rangerettes, and the Ranger Cheerleaders will all perform. The cheerleaders and members of the football team will be introduced.
Ranger Head Coach Randy Pippin will speak about the upcoming season. The pep rally will close with the fight song, and the scrimmage will begin.
"By making this a two-part event, there is something for everybody," Wooten said. "Those who want to come for the pep rally, but not the scrimmage can do so, and vice versa. We want this to be a fun event to get everyone ready for our football season."
The Senatobia Lion's Club will provide a concession stand for the event.
