Northwest Singers to present concert

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Fine Arts presents the Singers, under the direction of Susanne Spencer VanDyke, in its spring concert Thursday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus.
The program will include the music ranging from Mozart, Handel, Brahms and Rachmaninoff to American composers Aaron Copland and Dave Brubeck. Spirituals by Houston Bright, Jester Hairston and Marvin Curtis will also be featured. Admission to the Singers concert is free.
"This year we're focusing on not only American composers, but also on the spirituals of our heritage," said VanDyke. "Students have enjoyed learning other languages such as Spanish and Latin."
Soprano Sarah Shackelford of Byhalia will be featured on Mozart's "Laudate Dominum" (Sing Praise to God Above). Kristin Gilbert of Clarksdale will be the featured soloist on Brubeck's "Hold Fast to Dreams."
Members of the Singers include: Cheryl Massey, Anna Embrey and Olivia Lunceford, all of Senatobia; Kaile Kelly of Coldwater; Austin Black of Sarah; Daniel Kelly of Crenshaw; Nicole Sturgis of Pope; Camioka Cooper of Batesville;
Nick Demari of Southaven; Geneva Malone of Hernando; Sam Palmer of Olive Branch; Jasper Moss of Nesbit; Jessica Day and Amanda McKeown of Potts Camp; Latriece Martin of Holly Springs; Trista Denton of Calhoun City; Malcolm Armstrong of Pittsboro; Mia Wooding of Bruce; Willie Burton of Duncan; Angela Kelly of Greenville and Sarah Welborn of Sumner.
