The cast and crew for Northwest Mississippi Community College’s upcoming production of “She Stoops to Conquer” has been named, according to Terry Scott, technical director of the Fine Arts Division, who will be directing the play.
Cast and crew members from DeSoto County are Jamison White of Horn Lake (Young Marlow); Fred Knichel of Olive Branch, (Mr. Hardcastle); Logan Foy of Olive Branch, (Tony Lumpkin, scene construction); Emily Burnett of Southaven, (Constance Neville, costume design); Jonathan Lee of Southaven, (Third Fellow/Servant); Chase Hairston of Olive Branch, (George Hastings,scene construction); Hannah Farris of Olive Branch, stage manager; Chad Garmon of Hernando, lighting operator; Kim Dunaway of Southaven, costume construction crew; and Chris Sparks of Southaven, sound operator.
Cast and crew members from Tate County are Amanda Leaf Smith of Senatobia, (Mrs. Hardcastle); Alyssa McElfresh of Senatobia, (Kate Hardcastle); Rachel McGibboney of Senatobia, (Barmaid/Pimple); Clay Mangrum of Sarah, (Second Fellow/Servant); Brad Floyd of Senatobia, (Stingo/Sir Charles); and Brandi Bates of Coldwater, props.
Other cast and crew members are Joseph Abrams of Byhalia (First fellow/Diggory); Jacob Fuller of Vicksburg, (Third Fellow/Servant); Michael Coker of Pope, costume construction crew; and Demarcus Hysten of Grenada, sound design. S.A. Weakley, a speech and theatre instructor at Northwest, will be in charge of lighting design for the play.
The play, which debuted in 1773, was written by Irish playwright Oliver Goldsmith.
“Most everyone has been the target of practical jokes, and most have been out on blind dates," says Enotes.com editor Marie Rose Napierkowski. "Goldsmith bases his 1773 comedy on two such incidents, creating a complicated, convoluted plot based on miscommunication and mistaken identities.”
Scott will also serve as scenic and sound designer of the production.
Production dates for the play are Thursday, May 3 - Saturday, May 5, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 6, 2:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus.
