Equine Massage class offered May 12 through Northwest
by LaJuan Tallo
4/23/2007

Northwest Mississippi Community College is offering an Equine Massage Class on Saturday, May 12, from 9:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m.

Equine massage is a field that has been linked to ancient times. Currently, the equine massage field is considered a profession. Learning some techniques can not only be interesting, but also extremely helpful to seasoned horse owners and novices.

Often, issues in horses’ temperaments are related to hidden pain and lack of flexibility. The practical application of massage techniques will help relax and improve circulation, relieve stiffness and pain in the horse, and facilitate the bonding process between man and beast.

The class is open to both professional and amateur owners and their equine athletes. Participants must present current Coggins papers at the beginning of class. Participants may bring a horse, but it is not required.

The course will be taught by Bonnie Davis, an equine massage therapist and registered massage therapist. The cost of the course is $160. The course will be taught at the Northwest Multipurpose Livestock Arena, located at the college farm on Hwy. 4 West in Senatobia. Sign up early.
