The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Continuing Education is offering three Spanish classes in Senatobia and Batesville starting in January.

Beginning Spanish (2.0 CEUs) is for beginners and is designed to introduce basic conversational Spanish to students who wish to communicate in Spanish. It will be packed full of “survival Spanish.” Pronunciation and Grammar will be emphasized, and a variety of group activities will be used to facilitate learning. The course will be taught at the Batesville Enterprise Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 27, and Feb. 3,10 and 17. The fee for the course is $60. The Batesville Enterprise Center is located Batesville Industrial Park, 275 Nosef Drive.

Basic Conversational Spanish (3.0 CEUs) is also for beginners and is designed to introduce basic conversational Spanish to students who wish to communicate in Spanish. “Survival Spanish,  pronunciation and grammar will be emphasized, and a variety of group activities will be used to facilitate learning. The class will be taught on the Senatobia campus in the Yalobusha Bldg., Room 120 from 4-6:30 p.m., Jan. 22-April 16. The fee for the course is $60.

Spanish for Elementary Teachers (2.0 CEUs) is a class designed to help elementary teachers incorporate some enrichment Spanish into their classrooms. This class goes beyond what was learned in Spanish for Educators; so some prior knowledge of Spanish is strongly recommended. A children’s Spanish dictionary, “The Usborne Picture Dictionary in Spanish” is the primary text. This book is provided, and the cost is included in the class fee. Although this class is structured for elementary teachers, it is an excellent class for secondary teachers, too. The class will be held in the Yalobusha Bldg., Room 120, from 4-6:30 p.m., Jan. 23-March 30. The fee is $60.

All of the classes are being taught by Wendy Gregory.
