According to Sybil Canon, director of the Northwest Foundation, “The Graeber Foundation Scholarship was established at Northwest in 1999 by Lewis Graeber and James Graeber and, with the addition of this recent gift, now has $127,500, making it the largest endowment with the NWCC Foundation. The interest earned provides several scholarships each year to our students.”

In addition to making contributions to the Graeber Foundation Scholarship, the Graeber Foundation makes an additional contribution annually for the James P. Graeber Memorial Scholarship. In giving this recent scholarship, Lewis Graeber said, “James was my brother and lifelong friend. He served his country as an Army officer during World War II, and at home he served our company with excellence and distinction. I know he would be pleased that we have honored his memory by helping to educate our youth.”

“It is because of people like Lewis and James Graeber that we are able to help students attend Northwest. These two men have served their country and the people of Mississippi their entire lives, and we are very grateful to them,” said Dr. Spears on the occasion of his visit with Lewis Graeber.


		Graeber Foundation support of NWCC continues by Nancy Patterson 1/27/06 When Northwest Mississippi Community College President Gary Lee Spears and Foundation Director Sybil Canon visited Lewis Graeber in his office in Marks on Jan. 27 they were able to personally thank Mr. Graeber for the recent $50,000 endowment to the Northwest Foundation. During the Christmas Season, the Graeber Foundation presented $50,000 to the Northwest Foundation to be added to the Graeber Foundation Scholarship Fund. Several years ago, James P. Graeber and his brother, Lewis A. Graeber, formed the Graeber Foundation as a means to assist colleges, schools and other charities. Today, the Graeber Foundation is managed by Lewis Graeber; his two sons, Clark and Bill, of Marks, and James Graeber’s son, Skip, of Clarksdale.
