Looking for a fun science adventure for your kids this summer? Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Kid’s Kollege will be sponsoring a trip down the mighty Mississippi River that will be both fun and educational.
“Science Adventure” for grades 3-6 with instructor Bud Donahou will be Tuesday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The deadline to register for this trip is Monday, June 2.
Students will meet at the Burks Building on the Senatobia campus to sign-in. There will be a morning session to include the scope and history of science, and an introduction to Global Positioning System (GPS) applications in science.
After lunch, the group will explore the Mississippi River aboard the Tunica Queen Riverboat. The captain of the riverboat will present a narration about the river with local points of interest.
Once the riverboat ride is over, the students will explore the Tunica River Park and Tunica Museum. They will return to Northwest at about 6 p.m.
The fee for the trip is $45, and students should bring an additional $5 for lunch. For more information, contact Patricia Lowder, coordinator of Continuing Education, at 562-3349 or e-mail pwlowder@northwestms.edu.
