Auditions for the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangerettes will be held on Friday, May 2 from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 from 8:30 a.m.-noon in Studio A in the McLendon Student Center on the Senatobia campus.
The Rangerettes are an all female dance team that performs with the Ranger Band at all home and a few away football games during the fall semester. In addition, the Rangerettes perform at halftime for home basketball games for the fall semester and in the Senatobia Christmas Parade.
In order to register for auditions, students must have an application and current physical documentation. Routines will be taught on the first day, and the first cut will be made. Those who are invited to come back on Saturday will have a final audition which will consist of individual interview, group jazz/high kick sequence, group pom/hip hop routine and individual demonstration of three dance skills, including pirouettes, toe touch, splits, barrel turns, split leaps, axils and other turns. The 2014-2015 Rangerettes will be announced at the end of auditions.
Rangerettes are eligible for a $562 Fine Arts scholarship for the fall and spring semesters. They are also responsible for the purchase of shoes, warm-ups, tanks and shorts. The fees for these vary from $125-$225.
