The community is invited to audition for Northwest’s upcoming spring production of Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” Auditions will be held Monday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. Performances for the play are set for Jan. 30- Feb. 2, according to Northwest Technical Director David Morgan.
The play, written by noted comedian and actor Steve Martin, imagines a comedic meeting between 20-somethings Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian café in 1904, just before the scientist changes the field of physics with his theory of relativity and the gifted artist transforms the art world with his cubism. Other characters come in and out of the bar to add to the comedy.
According to Morgan, there are a total of 11 parts up for grabs. They include six men between the ages of 18 and 60 and five women between the ages of 18 and 30. “We would really like to encourage faculty, staff, students and members of the community to come out and audition for this play, “ Morgan said. “It is going to be a lot of fun for everyone.”
