SecurTrust awards annual scholarships to Northwest students

Recently, Patti Gordon, executive director of Institutional Advancement at Northwest Mississippi Community College and Dr. Josh Filtz, assistant dean of DeSoto Center accepted a donation to the Northwest Foundation from Martha Rushing, president and CEO of SecurTrust Federal Credit Union in Southaven.

According to Gordon, there will be two $500 annual scholarships awarded to Tate, Marshall or DeSoto County students. Gordon explained that the students will receive $250 per semester. “These scholarships will be given to one student who attends Northwest on the Senatobia campus and one who attends at DeSoto Center. These students should be studying accounting, business or banking and finance,” Gordon explained.

“We are so thankful for SecurTrust, their continued support of Northwest, and especially their willingness to provide educational opportunities for our students.  Mrs. Rushing and her staff are always eager to sponsor events and donate gifts, and the establishment of this scholarship further validates their commitment to our community, our institution, and our students,” Filtz said.
