This fall, Northwest Mississippi Community College will be offering 15 hours of Early Childhood Education Technology credit for individuals seeking to meet Pre-k teacher or assistant teacher certification requirements. Participants willearn college credit and specialized early childhood training.
The curriculum will focus on child development and learning, age-appropriate classroom management, positive social, emotional and behavior development in children and common core readiness. The coursework is designed to develop and certify early childhood educators. Future preschool teachers/assistants will design developmentally appropriate lessons and create positive classroom environments.
Students will need to apply for admission to Northwest and will earn 15 hours of college credit by completing the requirements.
“This is a jump start to get students started with college hours in the program of Early Childhood Education Technology, and within a program they already have a lot of knowledge about,” said Anne Marie Ross, director of Early Childhood Education Technology program at Northwest.
