Transfer Specialist, Student Support Services/TRIO Academic Programs – Deadline for Application: July 5, 2018

POSITION:   Transfer Specialist, Student Support Services/TRIO Academic Programs

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Management, or related field; Master’s preferred.  Three or more years postsecondary experience; prefer experience in a TRIO setting; must be competent in spreadsheet and data management software, have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and prefer person with a background similar to the target population.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Serve as the liaison between NWCC, SSS students, and 4-year transfer college staff
  2. Counsel, arrange visits, appointments, and other contacts between transfer-ready participants and representatives of 4-year colleges
  3. Evaluate NWCC transcripts and courses completed to determine transfer status of participants
  4. Research regularly online University Equivalency Charts and University Major Curriculum guides to aid students in transfer
  5. Drive 12 passenger van and  students to tour area universities
  6. Assist students in securing financial aid to transfer to 4-year colleges
  7. Conduct financial aid and transfer workshops
  8. Assist students with the application for admission process at 4-year colleges
  9. Track SSS participants to determine persistence, graduation, grade point averages, and transfer rates for project evaluation
  10. Consolidate data, measure the project’s performance, and submit online reports to the Department of Education annually
  11. Serve as an advocate for disadvantaged students
  12. Assist with the evaluation of the project and other duties as requested

REQUIREMENT: Within the first year of employment, the Transfer Specialist will attend a TRIO sponsored conference or workshop in order to receive formal TRIO training. In additions to university travel, Transfer Specialist must be willing to travel to Trio related trainings, meetings, or conferences annually.
