POSITION: Outreach & Instructional Librarian
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science required; experience in academic libraries required with a preference for community college level experience; demonstrated competence in current learning resources technology; excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare, and present outreach programs for the library. Promote interest in the library and reading through book discussions, emails, and newsletters. Create displays to enhance the library experience and to promote use of library resources. Utilize the library’s various social media outlets. Conduct basic library tours or orientations. Conduct one-on-one research consultation with students & faculty. Collaborate with faculty to develop and teach instructional sessions for specific disciplines. Provide general reference to library users (via phone, text-message, in person) including questions related to the collection, equipment, policies and procedures. Assist the Head Librarian in the acquisition of new books. Participate in other collection management activities such as weeding, serials and database review. Assist with clearance, inventory, and annual report for the library. Participate in library staff and faculty development meetings. Maintain membership in professional organizations and associations. Keep abreast of new developments in the profession. Attend professional conferences and seminars. Maintain good working relations with faculty, staff, students and administration. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Librarian or the Administration. Conform to school policy as set down in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
