Northwest to present “Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits”

 

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Theatre Department is in rehearsals for its next production, “Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits,” featuring student-directed scenes from several of William Shakespeare’s works.

Short scenes from “Macbeth,” A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” “Hamlet,” “Romeo and Juliet,” Much Ado About Nothing,” “Othello,” “The Tempest,” “The Merchant of Venice,” “Twelfth Night,” “Julius Caesar,” “Richard III” and “As You Like It” will be performed.

Student directors are Andrew McDonald of Walls, “Macbeth;” Prichan Murrell of Senatobia, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream;” and Mary Addyson Harville of Hernando, “The Taming of the Shrew.” All other scenes will be directed by Alyssa Algee, Northwest technical director.

Actors for “Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits” are McDonald, Murrell, Harville, Marty Street, Noah Fleener and Olivia McGrath, all of Olive Branch; Matt Williams, Keegan Riley, Jon Hackett and Jacob Vogelsong, all of Hernando; Ashton Dye of Sarah; Amber Bonner of Boyle; Kelton Holman of Charleston; Christian Hinton of Southaven; Preslie Anne Cowley of Cleveland; Anna Grace Marshall and Jorge Ortega of Senatobia and James Dickson of Tunica.

Performance times for “Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits” are Wednesday, April 19, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
