DeSoto Hall
Meet the Residential Staff | Interior Photos

DeSoto Hall is an apartment-style hall that was converted from faculty housing to student housing in 1999. It is a co-ed facility with males and females housed in separate buildings around a central courtyard. 59 students are housed in this facility making it the smallest of our halls. Hall apartments consist of two bedrooms, a kitchenette, one bathroom, and a living area. There are two styles of rooms – the Deluxe and the Standard. Deluxe apartments are larger with the addition of a half-bath and a separate laundry and study room.

Students find the smallness of the hall one of its greatest attributes because they are able to develop a real sense of community around the hall. Many evenings are spent grilling hamburgers and visiting around the gated courtyard.

Residential Staff
Jackie Thulin
Residence Hall Supervisor

Hi and welcome to DeSoto Hall. My name is Ms. Jackie and I have been a hall supervisor at Northwest for 14 years. I love being a hall supervisor because I love being around young people and I like to think that I may be helping the future president of the United States.

One of my fondest memories of this hall is how the students responded when they found out I was going to be their supervisor. They called me out into the courtyard and two students with guitars sang me a welcome song they had written just for me. It was a great introduction to the hall and is really a strong example of the friendly relationship we have at our hall. We like to have fun and were the first place winners of the Homecoming Decoration Contest in 2007

Enjoy your tour of the halls and I look forward to meeting you when you come to Northwest.

Ms. Jackie
