HISTORY. The band programs at Northwest started with one band of 18 members under the direction of Mrs. Dochia Eades in 1949. They received the title of Ranger Band in 1953. The band has grown to over 6 ensembles and over 100 members in its present form. The band program at Northwest boasts prominent alumni in vast array of fields from education and music to political science and journalism. Ranger Band members have become prominent members of United States Military Bands, high school and college band directors, nurses, doctors, librarians, editors of major newspapers and even include a governor of Mississippi.
