Head Soccer Coach - Peter Jarjoura

Peter Jarjoura is beginning his seventh season as head coach of the men’s and women’s soccer programs which became an intercollegiate sport at Northwest in 2002.

Last season, Jarjoura’s Lady Ranger squad placed third in the MACJC north division by finishing with a record of 4-5-3 and a 2-4 division mark. The Rangers were fourth in the north at 3-10 overall and 2-6 inside the division.

The Lady Rangers earned their first MACJC north division championship in 2006, posting a record of 14-5 and finishing the season as runners- up for the state and region titles. During that same year, the men’s team placed third in the north division.

Jarjoura’s squads have also excelled in the classroom. Fifteen Northwest soccer players have been selected NJCAA Academic All- American over the last six years. Jarjoura, who grew up playing soccer in his native Lebanon, was a United States Soccer Federation referee for six years, and he worked as an official with the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association for one year.  In addition to officiating at the college level, he has officiated games and tournaments for the Mississippi Youth Soccer Association.

He also was a high school referee for three years with the Mississippi High School Activities Association.  For three years he was president of the Senatobia community soccer league, and he helped coach the Senatobia High School soccer team for three years. A furniture craftsman, Jarjoura was employed in the cabinet shop at Northwest’s Physical Plant for 12 years prior to his move to soccer coach.

Jarjoura and his family reside in Senatobia where he is an active elder in the Senatobia Presbyterian Church and a youth leader. He moved from Oxford to Senatobia in 1978 after immigrating to the United States in 1976. Jarjoura and his wife, the former Jody Griffin, have a son Zachary, and twin daughters Marlena and Lydia. The Jarjouras have endowed a scholarship at Northwest in memory of their son Jordan, who died in 1988 at age 7.  Preference for the scholarship is given to Tate County students majoring in library science.

 

Assistant Coach Charlie Baldwin

selbyMen's and Women's Soccer Coach Charlie Baldwin is in his third season as assistant coach for both the soccer programs at Northwest.

Baldwin has 20 years of soccer coaching experience under his belt.

Most recently, he served as head soccer coach at DeSoto Central High School. He led the boys’ soccer program in 2005 and 2006 and the girls’ squad in 2003 and 2004. Baldwin led DeSoto Central to three Chickasaw Conference championships.
Baldwin was the girls’ head soccer coach at Southaven High School from 1998 through 2001.

He coached the Germantown Fury for four years and the Memphis Futbol Club for nine seasons. He was also a training coach for the Mississippi Olympic Development Program.
A 1973 graduate of Southaven High School, Baldwin holds a NSCAA National Diploma and USF National “C” License.
Baldwin is married to the former Mary Barkley of Southaven. They have a son, Charlie, and a daughter, Christy.
