MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Northwest rodeo team completed its second competition of the spring season this past weekend at Arkansas-Monticello, with sophomore Brian Dowdy taking first in the bull riding event to pace the men's team to a seventh place overall finish. | Final Results

With Dowdy winning the bull riding event, his second of the season, a Northwest rider has now won five of the seven events during the 2011-12 season and the Rangers occupy five of the top eight individual spots.

"Brian was the only guy to ride in the long round," head coach Bruce Lee said. "He's currently sitting in fourth and is in great position to go back to the College National Finals Rodeo again this year."

As a team, the Ranger men scored 120 total points to place seventh, while fellow MACJC member East Mississippi placed third with 445 total points.

For the women, Lauren Sanders finished just outside the Top 10 in the goat tying event.

Northwest will return to action April 12-14 in Martin, Tenn.
